For the Ginger Syrup (Sweetened Version)
- 1 cup fresh ginger peeled and sliced
- 2 cups water
- 3/4 cup honey maple syrup, or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
For the Sugar-Free Ginger Concentrate
- 1 cup fresh ginger peeled and sliced
- 2 cups water
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon stevia or monk fruit sweetener optional
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
For Assembling the Ginger Ale
- 1 cup ginger syrup or concentrate
- 3-4 cups sparkling water adjust to taste
- Juice of 1 lime optional
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint or lemon slices for garnish
Make the Ginger Syrup or Concentrate
Simmer the Ginger - In a medium saucepan, combine the sliced ginger and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.Tip: The longer you simmer, the stronger the ginger flavor will be.
Sweeten (If Using Sugar) - If making the sweetened version, stir in your preferred sweetener until fully dissolved. Simmer for another 5 minutes.Tip: Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more or less sweetener as desired.
